How to build Dirt Jumps

How to build dirt jumps. After a bit of searching, I found some good tips to build dirt jump ramps. This is from wikihow.com
Tips
- Getting the ground soft before you dig makes life a whole lot easier.
- If you have a small skid-loader, you can make ramps in much less time.
- Make sure it is hard-packed enough to support the weight of the bike AND you!
- To save on digging, you can make the core of the ramp with construction surplus, like broken concrete and bricks. Just cover them with a thick layer of dirt and pack it.

... Such colourful language from a pre-pubescent who seems to think that cycling revolves solely around BMXing. Yes, the bmx did give birth to the mtb dirt jump, the freeride and street riding. But let's just remember that's all it did, give birth to!!! MTBing has come a long way since the forefathers rode their steel rigs down the mountain side and has evolved to something that barely resembles BMXing and does so in a much harder, higher and faster way. But in the end BMXing rules the world, nothing is as good or even come close to it and is why cave man invented the wheel.....NOT. Get a life man and bare witness to the fact that we all ride two wheels here and respect all disciplines of cycling regardless of the small minority of dickheads who obviously have no idea as to what they are talking about. FULL STOP. Don't even bother with a poor attempt at a witty reply, as all residence is futile. |

... what mint_sauce said. couldnt agree more. personally i find bmx easier and more agile. but in the end i have to go with mtb. bmx is a phase that little kids go through when they want to be 'cool' with the rest of their little friends. i ride 26" because it gives you more room to play with on the bike. i have a bmx as a backup for when the beast breaks down. although there are 2 types of bmxers. 1 little kids who think they are cool by doing the longest skid they can. 2 people who are serious about riding but havnt had the pleasure of riding mtb. and no mtb catagory is wrong or shit. i like trials, dh, freeride, park and dj. even though road biking isnt to my taste, i dont have a rant at them for staying away from the rough stuff. job done. |
