Replied to the What skills are you looking to learn next?Jumping is highest on my list, would love to make the most of all the tabletops at Llandegla for example and progress onto a few of the smaller gap jumps that are about! Last time I tried to teach myself I landed a little nose heavy, tyre popped off the rim and I cracked my helmet!

Replied to the What are your top mountain biking tips?always make sure that your bike is in good working order the week before you ride, it's not a good look fitting new parts or trying to trim your gears in the car park while your riding buddies look on ready to ride......;-) just get out and ride !

Replied to the Which mtb skills schools / courses would you recommend?UKbikeskills is definitely the one you want if you want to be more fluid and progress on jumps and drops etc. He has totally transformed my riding, the progression in my riding is amazing, quicker, smoother, cornering better and i can get air :-). Dont bother looking elsewhere

Thanks. Be good to find somewhere closer to home and maybe do wiht a couple of others? Think priority order would be pump, manual, jump, fast flat corners, drops. if I did a course that did just pump, manual and jump be dead happy. UKBikeskills and Jedi is a potential. Any other recommendations?

2011 was a very quiet year for riding and travelling so has to be Surrey hills due to it's mix and proximity closely followed by Swinley. Also Haggerston and Lordship Loop for practice. 2012 has to be Brechfa Raven, Coed Llandegla, Cannock and Dalby

Replied to the What are your top mountain biking tips? Some mainly winter tip but some work in summer too.. - Be prepared for the afterride with bin bags for muddy clothes, change of dry clothes, old carpet on boot floor to catch mud and seat covers (one day) - Put rinsed bladder in freezer until next ride - Frozen or stiff bladder tops come off easily when rinsed under hot - near boiling water - Keep the internal organs warm too. If it's dead cold out there then put hot orange juice in bladder to warm you up (or mix your ride mix with hot water) and have a thin scarf around mouth so you warm the air up before you breath. - If you are riding alone as your mates are too wimpish to ride in cold and wet then let someone know where you are when back.

Replied to the Which mtb skills schools / courses would you recommend?Probably at the wrong end of the country for you but Tammy and me did a skills course with Ed Oxley aka 'Great Rock' (http://www.great-rock.co.uk/courses/) at Lee Quarry earlier this year. We covered all the basic techniques and he was a good instructor. He also runs courses at Gisburn forest.
A general group for asking biking questions
Folks,
I've just published a load of fun and very important biking questions for you to ponder. This is the group for questions. Feel free to reply to them or post new ones.

the benefits of tubeless in my opinion is far less likely to get pinch flats and you can run at a lower pressure than normal as the tyre is stuck to the rim so is less likely to "pop"
the downside is cost i believe plus its beneficial to buy tubeless specific tyres which are more than normal tyres. its also beneficial to buy a c02 canister type inflator as a hand pump wont give it enough oomph to push the tyre against the rim.
fixing a tubeless is harder too i imagine as you have to break the rim seal and have to re-seal it again somehow..
this is speaking from a person who doesnt use tubeless as he is a tight git and cannot be naffed with it all, far easier/cheaper to buy a joblot of innertubes! :)
unfortunately anything that keeps the iphone gps on continually will drain the battery very quickly. the only thing you can do to help this is keep the screen off.
for mapping I use cyclemeter (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/cyclemeter-gps-cycling-computer/id330595774?mt=8) this isn't free but not only has GPS tracking / mapping.. but also has speedometer and other useful information. I wouldn't rave about it but I do like it and don't mind having paid for it.
for finding trails.. I haven't found anything I am happy with yet. route buddy atlas looks promising and has access to many different maps.
do let us know what you end up using.
Natural = close and free.
Tough choice. I already live and ride on the North Shore, so no need to spend the bucks to go to Whistler. One spot that does look interesting is Bartlett Wash in Utah. It looks like a giant natural skatepark. That should make for some fun riding.
