Everytime I ride with someone new I pick up a few handy tips. Thought it be good to start a list of our top ones to share to help us all out.

check your brake pads before you go - using the force to stop on a decent descent takes some skill and nerve
always make sure that your bike is in good working order the week before you ride, it's not a good look fitting new parts or trying to trim your gears in the car park while your riding buddies look on ready to ride......;-) just get out and ride !
Some mainly winter tip but some work in summer too..
- Be prepared for the afterride with bin bags for muddy clothes, change of dry clothes, old carpet on boot floor to catch mud and seat covers (one day)
- Put rinsed bladder in freezer until next ride
- Frozen or stiff bladder tops come off easily when rinsed under hot - near boiling water
- Keep the internal organs warm too. If it's dead cold out there then put hot orange juice in bladder to warm you up (or mix your ride mix with hot water) and have a thin scarf around mouth so you warm the air up before you breath.
- If you are riding alone as your mates are too wimpish to ride in cold and wet then let someone know where you are when back.
