Haven’t blogged about anything in ages and yet I’ve, no we’ve been doing loads of mountain biking.

Keven found a group of like minded people online and got chatting, saw they arranged to meet up for a bike ride once a month at least.  When we met up with them for the first time their were others that it was a first time for too.  In fact I think it was about their 2nd or 3rd group meeting.

We met a Cannock Chase, a place that me and Keven frequent anyway so it wasn’t like we were going out of our way. There were 22 of us in the group that day, I’ve never been out with a mountain bike group so large, yeah we had some hold ups as everyone charged forward and not wanting to be left behind, but once the group settled it went ok, on the natural trails; until one of the guys came off his bike quite badly too.  Shortly after we headed back to the cars so people could get themselves organised for the second half of the ride which was going to be around the actual trail centre. The guy that came off his bike went home.

As we headed to the trails the faster riders of the group didn’t wait around anymore as time was ticking by quickly, the slower riders of the group did as much as they could; but after such a long ride in the morning their legs weren’t up to the challenge of the climbs of the man made trail centre.

The next time we went out there was only a couple of other guys with us and we did the natural trails at Cannock and had lots of fun, I was at the back mostly, especially at any downhill sections as these always scare the bejesus out of me.

The time after there were a few others met up with us as we went to ride Ladybower, that was an awesome day and a nightmare ride…..fantastic and what a great bunch of people we have met. It’s amazing really how many people in and around our age group that enjoy mountain biking and with this group my confidence is growing each time we go out; in fact as each weekend comes to an end I can’t wait for the next one to arrive. The guys we have met so far on each of the rides are fab. They are supportive, knowledgeable and very funny, which makes for a great day or weekend out. We are very fortunate to have found this group.

We have travelled to different locations and even tried out our tent that we bought last year..lol… we have since up graded our tent. The weekend was great, tiring but great. Coed y Brenin we will be visiting again and this time hopefully don’t have to resort in sleeping in the car..lmao.

The group is set to meet on my birthday weekend but unfortunately I’ve got to work, so we won’t be going with them and then the next meet we’ll be on holiday visiting my folks so will miss that. But will be out on our bikes and hopefully get my sister out on hers even if it’s only round the block, maybe she’ll get the bug while we’re up there SMILEYS_SMILE

We’re heading up to Scotland in September and taking my parents for a short break to before we start our biking around the 7 staines.  Then we’re heading back to Coed y brenin in October for a weekend.

We are actually doing something this year that doesn’t include the bikes unfortunately and that’s going to a wedding of a very good friend of mine from my Army days and all my close buddies from those days are going to be there one of which I haven’t seen since I left the Army and most of the others I haven’t seen since our wedding, I am looking forward to that.  Thankfully Keven has met the girl that’s getting married and gets along with her, but then who wouldn’t she is easy going.  I don’t think they have a trail centre in Hereford. Do they? SMILEYS_SMILE

Will blog again soon

I promise
