Here is a quick scan of the map purchased today. There is not much to find on it appart from major routes. So even when you have it (and it's your first time in there) doesn't help. Best option - explore.

... One more thing there is a £1.5 ride permit fee (per day) You pay that in the Discovery Centre office/reception (The Lookout on the map - next to the funky monkey If you one of those greedy guys. You can get there without paying and there is no one to check you, but what?s the point? Better to pay £1.5 and have nice area to ride. There is a bike hire. I would say they have a good standard there if you compare it to other bike hires I've came across. Also, a large car park. I don't know if they charge for it because we got there by train (1h from Kingston - change in Twickenham train to Reading I think. Arial assault course - ropes, nets and monkey business up on a trees - haven't tried but looks interesting. Haven't noticed any place to have good meal - probable reason? Sandwiches in my backpack Right opposite the Discovery centre there is a water park (swimming pools and other stuff - looks like good fun after a ride) unfortunately there might be a problem with bikes. I mean where to leave it. I've noticed bike rack outside, what would suggest you cannot take them inside to some secure place. I've hope these few posts will give you an idea about the place. I haven?t explored even a half of it yet. |

... Hi, here's a link to another PDF map with some of the singletrack marked on it - Swinley Map. The car park is free by the way and the cost of the permit goes towards maintenance of the trails, so it does help to buy one. Greg. |

... There is absolutely loads of really decent singletrack in Swinley and some of it is really, really difficult to find. Best thing is to try to hook up with someone that knows the place well. You can order a yearly Swinley Permit here: http://tinyurl.com/cwgvns. They will send you a removable wristband type piece of plastic that can be attached to your frame or the air vents on your helmet. |

... Just uploaded some more tracks from Swinley from my collective GPSing. There's a LOT to find in Swinley, in and out of the 'expert zone'. Enjoy, I think your best plan if you don't know it would be to find people there and ask them where's good! |
