Good Points
Matthew Simister
Just had a fantastic few days away with the lads at MudTrek. Jason showed us some awesome natural 'off piste' routes and Nikki’s cooking was fantastic. We'll definitely be back and would recommend a trip down there to anyone!

Matthew Savidge
Thanks for a great weekend - great location, lovely food & top guide. Look forward to coming back. Some great photos as well Jason, thanks again.

John Thirlwall
Just back from a stonking weekend with MudTrek. Great food, fully boss accommodation and perfect hosts in Nikki & Jason. Complete mudfest in the Doethie Valley, but still thoroughly enjoyable, albeit very hard work! Anyone considering a visit to MudTrek, stop thinking about it and DO IT! Great value for money, and a total blast. Big thanks again to Nikki & Jason SMILEYS_SMILE

Keep doing what you’re doing and MudTrek will be a superb success for years ahead. You have both achieved a massive amount - keep it up and well done! The Manchester/Bury/Failsworth/Rochdale/Ashton Boys!!

Just had a cracking week-end away at MudTrek. Great set up. Friendly welcome, comfortable accommodation, lovely food and challenging rides with views from the Doethie valley that challenge any in the country. Highly recommend.

Thanks to Nikki and Jason we had a fantastic time. The lasagne is fabulous and the biking is amazing. These guys know how provide a service. Would recommend anyone holidaying with MudTrek.

Thank you so much for everything - fantastic food, amazing bike trails. Jay, thanks for being patient and getting the girls through the trek! Nikki, all was beautiful and great what you've done with the barn! We didn't want to leave.

Martine Tolley
Another fab weekend at MudTrek!! 2nd visit in as many months but there will be plenty more. Thanks Nikki and Jason we will be back. Martine & Ian

Jason and Nikki, this was one of my most enjoyable mountain biking weekends I've had in a long time. Your hospitality, accommodation and food were simply superb! Jason, you are an awesome trail guide and I still owe you a night ride. We'll sort that out this spring. If Raven Black is a good as The Gorlech it will be a blast. The trail conditions were amazing, even in the wet areas - comparable to some of the riding I've done back on the West Coast of British Columbia. Already getting enquiries about going back - promising. I would definitely be surprised if you don't get rave reviews from The Guardian newspaper that were coming after us. Thank you so much. We'll see you later and I'll stay in touch for sure. One more thing, the sweaters you got us are way cool. Make sure you get more done!

Brandy Sydow
Hey guys, thanks for a really great weekend. The trails were amazing and the food was fantastic. You guys made my first mountain biking experience a truly great experience. Thanks!

Keysha McKenzie
Thank you so much for the unforgettable weekend!!! The mountain bike rides were exhilarating, challenging, and fun! The cottage was comfy and pleasant with gorgeous picturesque scenery and the homemade breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert was exceptionally scrumptious! You were the best host and hostess anyone could ever ask for. We had a brilliant time and can’t wait for our next adventure with Mudtrek!!! Best wishes to you both.

Amazing weekend! Bay Tree Barn exceeding expectations. The accommodations and food were great. And after hitting the trails the food definitely welcome! Jay and Nikki were fantastic hosts. Even from a beginner in mountain biking, I had a blast. Definitely worth the money and would do it again!

A great view as we drove into the car park at MudTrek! That night we sat down for our Chicken Curry followed by Sticky Toffee pudding (home cooked by Nikki) and started to relax. Rain greeted us Saturday morning - vans and Landy were loaded. It was an awesome sight as we pulled up into the car park in the Doethie Valley, misty and grey with the Llyn Brianne Dam Spillway overflowing. A great day followed, laughs and spills aplenty, with J's easygoing company making you feel you'd ridden with him before.

Soaked, muddy but happy, we stuffed our (well earned) packed lunches (Nikki again), and made our way back for bike washing and warm showers before a trip to the pub. Back at the barn, a great Chilli was served, followed by Apple Pie and cream. All weekend, nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. We will be going back.

On behalf of my boyfriend Antony Green who stayed last weekend. He said that he had a great time, Jason and Nikki were great and he could not have asked for more. He said that he would never even consider looking elsewhere to do the same thing because he honestly doesn't think anyone would be able to do what they do, half as well. Take it from me, he hasn't shut about it since he came back!

Just had a fab weekend at MudTrek - thoroughly enjoyed ourselves courtesy of Jason and Nikki. If you like top class accommodation, hosts and food look no further. Jason is a fantastic guide who will cater for all abilities (even tows you up hill if needed), the man is bionic! 20 min ride out in the Landy and the world’s your oyster. Fantastic downhills make the uphill slog worth the effort. Don’t just take my word for it - TRY IT yourself, you won’t be disappointed. These are THE people to go to.

Paul Dewhurst
Thanks for a great few days in your back yard!! Superb all round package and surrounded by awesome trails. Will defo be back very, very soon. Well done.

Dale Strickland
Genuine hospitality, delicious food, awesome trails and expert guiding. MudTrek will be around for very long time. Can't wait to go back in Spring.

I never thought Brechfa's trails would make everything else in south Wales seem so ordinary yet the only thing I've been able to talk about since getting back was the quality of the service we had from Nikki and Jason at MudTrek. From the moment I called up to enquire about booking to the second we left they went out of their way to give us the best weekend biking ever - a lot of 5 star hotels could learn a lot from these two. Will be back as soon as I can!

Mike Beukes
Just had a truly outstanding mountain biking weekend with Nikki and Jay. They seem to be a rare pair that will do everything they can to deliver an outstanding service in an amazing setting, with off the charts food and great guiding across some superb trails. I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better or even comparative trip anywhere in the UK.

Sarah Willcock
Had a really great time biking with mudtrek. Jay is a good coach, pacing the ride well for our groups with plenty of climbs, fast descents and technical stuff. Felt very at home in the barn and the food was amazing!

Sarah Pain
Thanks to Nikki and Jay for a wonderful weekend - I couldn't recommend Mudtrek enough! The accommodation was gorgeous, well thought out and extremely comfortable. The food was amazing - Nikki's lasagne was fabulous, and as for the bread and butter pudding...! Wow! It was all great and I have definitely come home a few pounds heavier!! And last but not least, the mountain biking was really, really great. Jay showed us some great trails and we loved exploring the natural riding that the area offers.

The best bit about Mudtrek was Nikki and Jay themselves though. Nothing was too much trouble and they made us feel like friends rather than 'customers'. I think the Mudtrek experience is going to be extremely popular - it certainly deserves to be SMILEYS_SMILE

Mudtrek is a bit of a long old drive from Nottingham (especially when the M4 is shut!) but boy, was it worth it. Our Friday night-Monday morning break at the Hay Barn in the very hospitable hands of Nikki and Jay, refreshed and rejuvinated us more than an entire week spent at a summer chalet in the French Alps last year!

The barn has been beautifully converted and was luxurious yet homely with lots of thoughtful extra little touches. It’s a wonderfully relaxing place to chill out in the evenings after two fantastic days mtbing with Jay, and everything Nikki brought through on her tray(s) was delicious and plentiful. Boys with big appetites will not be disappointed, nor will girls with good taste (the old waistline has gotten a bit snug though...!) Loved falling asleep to the sound of nothing but the wind in the trees and beneath the stars (quite literally, we could lie in bed and look up at the milky way through the skylight). Peace and quiet and wonderful views.

It really felt like nothing was too much trouble either and we were made to feel so welcome. (especially on the last night in front of your (eventually!) roaring fire with your two lovely sleepy dogs, wine, port, chocolates, cheese and slightly ‘mature’ crackers). Will definitely be back for a return visit!!!

MudTrek was my first mountain bike holiday...And what an introduction! WOW! The scenery was magnificent, the terrain challenging and the guiding by Jason was fab! After each day it was so lovely to return to the comfortable, warm and relaxing accommodation and then experience Nikki's wonderful cooking. So thank you very much both of you for a thoroughly enjoyable fun packed few days. Ian

Martine Tolley
Wow, what a brilliant weekend we've just had with Mudtrek. An amazing location, with well appointed accommodation. We were greeted by Nikki and Jason on arrival, with a very warm welcome and a fantastic evening meal to follow! It was off to the breathtaking Doethie Valley on Saturday for a challenging ride with Jason, followed by more wonderful food. The red Gorlech trail beckoned on the Sunday and we had an amazing ride, with some adrenalin pumping descents! I loved it !!

Jason is an excellent guide, with extensive knowledge of the trails, briefing us about the terrain. Nikki, superb food, what more can I say! Thanks to you both for such a memorable stay, you are outstanding hosts and I can't wait to come back !! Love Martine

What an amazing weekend we just had with Jason and Nicki, from the very start with the warm welcome and what must be the best Lasagne I have ever had. The hearty breakfast set us up for the days ride around the Doethie Valley - some of the most spectacular scenery I have had the opportunity to ride around. We were all having so much fun the fact it started raining towards the end of the ride just didn't matter at all on the first day, day 2 we hit the trails with Jason doing a great job guiding us round my first 'red' Trail, exhilarating and left me looking forward to the next chance I get to visit Mudtrek again, they offer truly amazing value for money and the accommodation is second to none, top marks to you both, will be booking up again real soon SMILEYS_SMILE x

Brilliant! Great location and good for all the family. Jason was a great guide and the trails were as great as advertised and nice and empty. Nikki was a fab cook- we certainly didn't go hungry!!! Both Nikki and Jason went out of their way to give me a fantastic Birthday. A truly wonderful break, in a fantastic location with super hosts. Thank you.

Jo Sales
Mudtrek rules OK!! Nikki, Jay, Woody & Cookie, thank you so much for a wonderful week. The boys say the biking was amazing and can't wait to come back. They are in training to complete the Doethie Valley challenge the next time! We all loved the accommodation, the food, the views and Brechfa but best of all was making friends with such lovely people.
For the non-bikers, don't be put off, this is still a wonderful holiday with loads to see and do. The pace of life is so relaxing and the roads so quiet! A perfect place also for walking the dogs (probably Jay's (our dog) happiest week ever!) and good beaches close by.
We have already spread the word the Mudtrek is THE place to go if you love your bike and the outdoors! We'll be seeing you again soon.

Mike Welburn
Just had a fantastic week with MudTrek. The local trails at Brechfa provide something for everyone but the highlight had to be Jason's guided tour of the Doethie Valley-some brilliant natural trails. Took road bikes as well and found some really quiet well surfaced roads that provided us with plenty of challenging descents and climbing. Back home for a rest now but can't wait to go back-thanks Jason and Nicki

Alex Naper
An ace weekend - Great local purpose built mountain bike tracks, amazing "real" single track in the Welsh hills and to wrap it all up fantastic food waiting for us back at the barn.
Claire Brown
I loved spending last weekend at MudTrek with a bunch of biking friends - a well-appointed barn, Jason's local trail knowledge combined with Nikki's AMAZING lasagne made for an awesome weekend away. I'll need to do more mileage to balance the calories next time!

Steve W Johnson
What an amazing experience! Every bit as good as our previous visit. The accommodation is outstanding as is the food. Jason and Nikki our hosts are such nice people and made us feel very welcome.

Jason is an excellent guide, briefing us before each ride and catered to our groups requirements during the riding. He is a charismatic character, very likable indeed. The trails delivered all we could hope for, from blue to black and were among the best we have ridden. The scenery was absolutely stunning, breath-taking in places. Thanks Nikki and Jason for making our stay so memorable. We'll be back for certain... to discover more of Jason's Welsh trail knowledge and of course the local home cooked food... both of which always leaves us wanting more.

As a group of six mountain bikers it is always difficult to find a venue that suits all but this is exactly what happened on our first visit to Mud Trek HQ:

Our weekend began in glorious sunshine as we were met by our hosts Jason ad Nikki Mulvey who for the outset were dedicated to making our weekend one to remember. Once unloaded from our transport we settled in to our pristine and simply stunning accommodation. The barn conversion has been sympathetically finished to an extremely high standard and offers all home comforts including a log burner. Soon we readied ourselves for our first outing on the Brechfa MTB trails.

Jason (our guide for the day) quickly assessed our needs and standard giving us a day to remember. We covered the best of a mix of trails that left us breathless and grinning from ear to ear. Having Jason along meant that we accessed the best of the trails during our trip and although they are well marked it makes such a difference having an expert guide. After our thrilling day we stopped of at the Black lion where Jason introduced us to the fine real ales on offer. Suitably refreshed we returned to our pristine accommodation to await our evening meal. This in itself was worth the visit Nikki’s food is simply outstanding. We were treated to a fantastic feast followed by an enormous home made chocolate cake.

Following a very sociable evening with our hosts and a restful night we awoke to a fabulous breakfast served in our accommodation the fresh eggs and local bacon was superb. Day two was to include another trip to the Brechfa for some more exploration of the amazing trails. We were packed off with a substantial packed lunch included in our superb package.

The weekend was about as perfect as it gets. This venue is an absolute gem; it offers simply outstanding value for money. With the opening in the near future of new but just as sumptuous accommodation my only worry is not that we will not be able to return as once people have visited we will never able to find a vacancy in the already very busy calendar. When you visit have a great time but please - keep it to yourself!

EXCELLENT! my admiration goes out to Jay and Nikki, having cycled Brechfa many times, Jasons local knowledge has re-opened my eyes to te available unmarked routes, food, views, atmosphere of a top notch Swiss Ski chalet. You will be seeing us again!

Steve Johnson
We had an awesome time, the accommodation was just fantastic, the sounding views spectacular and the home cooked food was very tasty indeed. Nikki and Jason our hosts and owners were just lovely people, a pleasure to be around and extremely helpful, without being imposing. Clearly experienced in their business of providing for the needs of the mountain biker, it stands out that they love doing what they do... and this made all the difference for me.

I loved the mountain bike tracks, offering a range of hills to climb, amazing decents, single tracks, root sections, switch backs and jumps.
The ride scenery can only be describe as awe-inspiring, take a suitable camara for those memorable shots. In terms of the mountain bike instructor and guide... Jason. I personally found him to be extremely helpful and encouraging. For me he paid attention to detail on the matters I need assistance on and looked after everyone who required his help at various different levels... superb!

Simon Duffill
What a fantastic location for mountain biking... right on the edge of Brechfa Forest with some of the best and most challenging trails south of Scotland. A great (if slightly crazy) guide in Jason (!) all topped off with five star accommodation and food that feeds your soul as well as your belly. Within shouting distance of the Pembroke and South West coasts too. Finally you will struggle to find accommodation as well appointed as this anywhere Marvellous. If your a Mountain Biker this has to join the list of Fort William, Whistler, Glentress, Dalby Forest, Moab and Morzine. Brechfa Forest offers something for everyone at every level and having a base like Brechfa Forest barns is the ideal solution. Book now whilst it is still a bit of a secret because it won't be long until the prices go up. You'll remain friends for a long time!!

Rene Hendriksen (Holland)
We stayed in this lovely accommodation this summer 2010. When we arrived we fell in love with this place. The view is awesome!! and the barn is everything you need for a fantastic stay in Wales Brechfa forest area. We loved Nikki's home made kitchen food. Thanks Nikki for your delicious meals. Because of our own Mud trek mountain bike guide Jason we were able to see the best trails in the brecha forest area. It was Brilliant!! Thanks again Jason for the wonderful rides!! So if you are looking for a good place to stay with your own mountain bike guide and lovely Nikki's kitchen food. This is the place to be!

Steph Duits
We first stayed here in spring '10 and now we can't get enough of the place. Fantastic local riding, and having our very own MudTrek guide Jason to show us around the best trails was just brilliant! We love the ski-chalet style accommodation - one of my fondest memories is sitting around the log fire eating Nikki's delicious home-made chilli. A perfect base for all the best Welsh trail centres!
