Cannock Chase - Follow the Dog.
Despite the threat of heavy rain and gale force winds, we decided on a trip to Cannock Chase on Saturday morning. We did the Follow the Dog trail.
We have not been to Cannock for nearly a year and were surprised at how much the trails have changed. New sections have been added and other sections modified to include a small rock garden and some small jumps and drops. There are two, albeit rather short, sections of boardwalk one of which splits into two sections to give an alternative route across a skinny plank over a boggy pond. We had a great mornings ride and my only moan is that the trail is still too short at only 6.62 miles. A 2nd phase of trail building is underway at the moment and is due to open at Easter 2010. A bacon butty and coffee was demolished in the excellent cafe after the ride. All in all a very enjoyable morning and another visit is pencilled in for next Saturday.
