From the A419, take the "Spine Road" exit to The Cotswold Water Park. Head along the Spine Road (the B4696), passing the Cotswold Outdoor shop and visitor centre on your left. You will also pass the Four Pillars Hotel and Summer Lake on your left and the entrance to Isis and Windrush Lakes on your right. Take a right hand turn into Station Road (you will see our sign on the junction) and continue for about 300 yards. The entrance to Spring Lake will be on your left.
A 10 mile route starting from Spring Lakes, through the village of South Cerney, through some lovely country lanes and around 2 to 3 lakes ending in Cricklade.
This is a route I do whenever I come to stay at my old man’s place in South Cerney. It starts by a beautiful lake where there is a friendly cafe and bar with toilets. You head down Station Road to South Cerney and once in the town take a left by the monument, passed a mini supermarket and then a bridle path heads off to the right 500 metres on (easy to miss). On the path head out through a woodland path until you hit a gate and a stile.
At the road turn right and then head down until you see a turning on the left that heads to a lake. Go halfway around the lake and take path off lake to right and sharp right again until road. Cross over road and take path straight in front of you. Go around field on left and then you keep going until you hit style. Over style and carry on through swamp signs. After a mile go left and the route takes you through miles of lakes. At end of lakes follow bridlepath to Cricklade. At Cricklade sharp turn on road for few miles then head off down country lane to the left down steepish descent to bridlepath that takes you home
Very chilled, not hard, very flat, very pretty. good for families.
