Adventure Racing

The 2009 race season seems a distant spec on the horizon, yet there are events that are sneaking up and we’ll be racing again before we know it. As I get out and work the cobwebs out of my legs there are races popping up everywhere.

The Perks of the Cycling Industry

Working in the cycling industry has its perks. As the PR Marketing Coordinator at Norco, I often take my surroundings for granted. Crankworx is jaw-dropping, interbike is flabbergasting, and VPS-Fest is pure fun; but, there are also little things the are not possible in a traditional work environment. In how many cubicle-cities can employees take their lunch and go dirt jumping.

Ryan - V-Blogging

Today was an early morning. Long before the crack of dawn, I felt my way down the front steps while nursing a coffee for the warmth and caffeine. Both were necessary as it was 5:30AM and my world was covered in a blanket of frost.

Cycling is an extremely diverse sport that that seems to offer an endless array of opportunities. Being so, it is easy to fall victim to tunnel vision and concentrate solely on the next trip, the next summit, the next ride. Every few months or so I am reminded though of the outside world beyond my two wheeled appendage. This past weekend I stepped outside the known to adventure in the blanketed BC mountains.

Make like a bird and head south. . . .

The upcoming Norco road trip through California is building momentum. As the trip comes together the anticipation builds for some great riding and hopefully a little bit of warmth. This is a common hope, Darcy Turenne has decided to hop on board and join Ryan and I for the trip.

British Columbia is the ultimate in worldwide riding destinations. Having the North Shore, Whistler and many other world renowned destinations only a stone’s throw away makes any cyclist drool with envy. There are times though, when even we see that the grass is greener on the other side. As I sit, staring out into the gloom of incessant rain and rapidly melting snow, I look south for sweet relief.

At the end of the month I am heading south to the warmth of California. Ryan Leech and myself are climbing into the team van and heading through Washington and Oregon then into California. The plan is to make this a riding road trip; we will meet up with media such as mtbr.com, decline, bike and many more. We will see the sights, we will ride our bikes and we we hopefully see some sun along the way.
