The Tame Valley Mountain bike trail is a 27km) in the process of being waymarked) MTB route around Stalybridge and Mossley in East Manchester.

Tame Valley Trail

  • The route runs through bridleways, country lanes and a small amount of road and can be split into short or long sections.
  • The largest loop is 27km long with an elevation of 750 meters including some tough climbs and descents & rocky bridleways.
  • The trails are just as fun for family rides and children and there are plenty of areas where trail features and interaction points can be incorporated to encourage family and younger people to use the cycle trails.
  • The 27km route provides stunning views of Cheshire, Manchester and Saddleworth and takes you along the outskirts of the Peak District. The route is very versatile and can be reduced (16km) or extended to include Saddleworth (46km), there are also many good starting points for cyclists wishing to create their own ride.
  • In the area, there is also the possibility to create other waymarked routes, that will lead you towards the Peak District into the South Pennines or into Lancashire.
  • The green sections are bridleways that are damaged and are awaiting repair.
