All the trails have been improved with new surfacing and better lines and features in many places. Some of the climbs still demand the best your legs can offer, but the rewards are there with amazing views and stunning descents. A great variety of trails to both whet new appetites and further develop existing ones.
The low level multi user trails are the best I have come across and are a fabulous day out for any level of rider. Great for chilling and great for endurance training too.

Kielder Water & Forest is a spectacular home for some of the best mtb trails in the North of England, with amazing scenery and a great sense of wilderness. The trail centre has an excellent variety and balance of trail grades with everything from leisurely green routes by the lake to leg-busting climbs and technical descents on the red and black routes. The blue route was the first trail I ever rode on mtb, and the wife and I still love a good blast around it! Some trails have been hit badly by wind blown trees and floods in recent years, but the FC and the Kielder Trail Reavers have worked really hard at restoring, and making some great improvements to all trails. Would highly recommend Kielder to any mtb rider!

I would recommend staying here for at least one night to explore the full range of trails, you would really struggle to get round the whole place in a day.

Good Points
it does not get full of riders stopping talking at the end of trails or at the start, you need to spend some time here to appreciate the full options available. my first ride out I went towards the northshore section, this is slippery but fun in the cold and wet, you need to bare in mind that it does rain here. my next ride out I drove from the lodges to the trail center and started from there, and I was shocked how much I did enjoy it there was parts that where difficult rock or boulder sections to climb, ( even if you where on a motorbike). but the downhill parts justified the climbs and for me that is what makes me happy. Nothing worse then climbing for hours to find the down hill part is c**p.
Bad Points
it gets really dark very quick, limited to no phone signal. and the ride around the water is full of gates.

Kielder often gets overlooked because of its remoteness, but I really like that. If you spend some time exploring you can soon link up the good bits, or even session them for example Sky Dive is easy to get to the top of, just follow the forest road up to Skyspace and you are at the top again. The facilities are pretty good, excellent bike shop with good bike wash, cafe with proper homemade cakes and a friendly pub. The only thing missing are showers.

Good Points
Some re-worked trails have been opened (18/10/14) and some improvements made to the trails, go and explore.
Kielder has some excellent single-track, it is just a matter of joining them up while trying to avoid the forest roads. The best sections on the Deadwater trail are Into the Valley and Twist and Shout, both should put a grin on anybodies face. The blue Osprey trail is quite challenging and long for a blue but once you get to Hill 361 the fun begins and it just gets better with Squirrel Nut Pines topping it off, beware the drag back on the Lakeside Way. On the other side of Kielder is the Lonesome Pine and the Bloody Bush Trail, the highlights are the hand-built Capon Hassock section and Sky Dive which flows really well all the way back to Kielder. The Bloody Bush trail is little used and remote but has a long section of north shore and is the way to go if you are going over to Newcastleton. There have been a lot of trail developments and improvements in the last year (2015/16) or so.
Bad Points
Some of the trails are a bit rough at the moment, but some like it that way, it is also very remote which means it is a long way from anywhere, but has the advantage that it never gets really busy.
Mobile phone signal very limited.
