I went down with a friend in early January to check out the scene. It had been on my bucket list since re-opening but also given it had taken the crown for Trail of the Year it had to be checked out. We did the one and two dot options (my mate did 3 dot also) and we also watched in awe some of the Freeride sections which has big jumps and ladder drops.

Overall this is a top notch really progressive bike park with a mixture of smooth flow lines with jumps and berms galore, more old Skool rooty and techie descents and trails up to pro ride level with ladder drops and massive jumps. The community is clearly vibrant and friendly and there is a good vibe about the place.

I would call out there are minimal facilities and it is a bit of a short ride from the car park. Also there is no uplift, but the push up is only around 8-10 mins. The descent also seems a lot longer than the shortish push up would imply so that is credit to the trail design ie a lot of trail for a short push up if that makes sense. Reminded me a bit of Aston hill just a bit more flow.

The trail quality wasn’t too bad given it had been pouring down with rain the days before but still a little muddy.

The final section of empuru is a mud bath though and so quite sketchy and really in need of some decent drainage sorted.

Overall an awesome progressive Downhill bike work for all abilities from beginner to pro.

A fun day out for every type of rider from newbie to seasoned pro!

Good Points
Great trails with the basis of upping your skill level. Has plenty of jumps and smooth sections. A great place to get to know your bike when making adjustments as runs are quick. Drinks on sale and a place to chill out between runs.
Bad Points
I could ride all day and more with a lift back to the top as the push up can get a tad tiresome

Good Points
Excellent, weatherproof trails that have been designed and built really well. Only £7 a day to ride, or £80ish for an annual pass. Trails are really progressive from a rollable blue and red all the way through to big gaps on the pro line. The thing I love is the jumps are dug in more on the right hand side, so you can get practice on a smaller jump and then progress to a longer version of the same table/gap/double, my jumping has improved so much this year from frequent visits to Wind Hill.

The staff are all top notch as well and know the trails really well, and go out each day to see how they're running.
Bad Points
Not a lot facilities wise, but is only a very new place, and some scumbag nicked the tea urn. Easy enough to bring a packed lunch and a flask though.

Everything is extremely well planned and built.

Good Points
Flow is very good
Original established tracks are still there
Very nice to have some real sized jumps there.
Definately a lot fitted in to the layout
Bad Points
Red grade runs could possibly have a few features similar to viagra falls. I.e. A boner log and some drops

When it comes to the end of the day you can really see you progression as you work though the trails. Be that clearing jumps, railing Burms or just the amount of runs you’ve managed. I’d recommend it to any level rider and ever for little kids

I've been to Windhill a bunch of times this year and on every visit set myself a goal - clear that table, nail that step up, don't look at the boner log!
And each time I get it.

The tails build confidence and are extremely well maintained.

You will see videos from the pros and the pro line here is serious but there's plenty more to do and to keep you occupied for a day.

Its an hour away from my house, the trails are awesome and they keep adding more stuff!

Best thing to happen in mountain biking in the UK (for me at least)...

Cracking place to ride of you like flow and getting your wheels off the floor.

A bit of something for everyone although to be fair I only rode the more advanced trails but could see the others as I was pushing up and the looked good.

As it's just opened the berms are smooth and fast and the lips are in perfect condition.

We will definitely be planning another trip soon. Some awesome jumps and a few big drops and road gaps. You would have equal fun on a DH Or XC Bike, we took the big rigs and had a cracking day!

Take your snacks / lunch to the trails with you as the car park is a bit of a walk from the trails.

The push ups are not too bad and the start ramp is a great little place to tear off from and enter the trails flat out.
Bad Points
Car park is a bit hard to find and and uplift would be nice to jam in more runs.
