Comrie Croft mountain bike trails are set in a private estate in the Strathearn Valley in Perthshire, Scotland. There are 16km of trails in total plus a lot of natural trails in the Strathearn Valley.

There is a Blue and a Red XC trail (with black sections). There is also a Bike Park, a new downhill Blue free-ride Trail and newly opened (2015) an extension of the Red Trail in the upper wood.

The MTB network is always developing and there is also a bike hire, repairs, bunkhouse, eco-camping & The Tea Garden cafe on site.

Comrie Croft was crowned iBikeRide Trail of the Year in 2016

Red (with black options)

  • The red is not long but has sections that are technical and possibly a bit harder than other reds in Scotland. It is a good mix of being very natural as well as hand carved technical singletrack with features such as the bedrock slab, off camber descents, the water splash and fun descents. There is a downhill black XC section from the top of the red which is very technical.

Blue

  • Rick Allsop (Trail Builder) has developed a Blue Graded trail adding 4km of trail packed full of features and for all abilities.

Bike Park & Pump Track

  • The bike park has a multitude of progressive features graded as either blue, red or black.
  • There is a two-way Perimeter track with rock gardens, a little skinny, a north shore and rock drops  (all optional).
  • A Kids area with a mini pump track, a see-saw and a bridge.
  • A full-scale Pump Track.
  • A downhill run with rock drops and berms.
  • Choices of either blue (three smaller tabletops), red (two larger tabletops) run or 3 black (3-lights) graded tabletops runs.

Natural trails

  • There are loads in this area in the Strathearn Valley and the shop will help sort you with either easy, medium, difficult and expert grade routes. Many of these start from the Comrie Croft Centre e.g Comrie village (easy, 4 miles), Loch Turret circular (difficult, 10 miles), Breafordie circular (medium, 6 miles) or the Loch Tay expedition (expert, 20-30 miles).

Good Points
Great natural feeling red and back trails, Rick did an awesome job making them. The top loop of the red has been well crafted out of the land using exposed rock as the trail is an awesome idea because it gives you the feel of a big natural ride in the hills but with all the facilities of the trail centre.

The blue is fun for everyone from beginners to experienced riders as you can hit it slow and roll over it all or hit it fast and fly down.

The skills park is a great place to practice your skill or teaching your little shredders the awesome sport.

CREAM OF THE CROFT!!!

Really great Cafe

Nice friendly staff all round
Bad Points
Needs a green family friendly trail i think to make this place a really great place of the whole family to enjoy.
Not having cream of the croft this year.

Comrie Croft first timer...

Very friendly service and top quality gear for all ages available in the shop.

The trails were beautifully made, Florey and not to muddy considering the mild wet weather we have had this winter.

Good Points
Turn up at the trail centre to find ample parking paid for by an honesty box system. We were encouraged to pay after our ride based on what we thought out ride was worth!

Great we shop for snacks, farm foods and gifts. General outdoor gear also available. Very clean and well appointed toilets. Warm too!

Bike shop staff very helpful and had break pads for my riding partners ten year old brakes. Great variety of adult and kids clothes, kit, equipment and tools.

Off onto the trails. We were encouraged to use a variety of loops on the trails to extend our day and build difficulty. We did this to a certain extent, though looped the Reds more than the blues. Just because they suited us better. The trails were grippy, built using 100% natural terrain. Even though this is a trail centre you feel like you are riding completely natural single track. The trail builders have made brilliant use of the natural granite to keep trails mud free and flowing. There are several challenging but achievable features and testing ups and downs for everyone from beginner to advanced. The views at the top were sensational even in today's murk. The red from the top has some pretty difficult sections that made it all the more fun.

Back to the bottom through the flowing tree section to use the jet wash next to the shop.

40 minute drive home to the central belt of Scotland via the excellent bakers in Comrie.
Bad Points
None really. The cafe wasn't open today.

Didn't try the skills loop.

Loved comrie from the first visit and seeing it grow over the years is always good, looking forward to seeing how it progresses in the future.

Good Points
The trails have great flow yet still feel natural even though it's a trail centre. The red/black loop up top of the hill is brilliant, you can feel miles away from anywhere yet still be in easy reach of the centre at the bottom of the hill. The car park doesn't cost a fortune but donations are always welcome and the trails are never overly busy, so no waiting about at the trail head and best of all, the climb isn't a killer! The new bike shop and farm shop are also very good, the bike shop for its size has everything you could possibly need, they also have a workshop and do bike hire. There's a great skills park too and a bike wash for keeping your steed looking pretty.
Bad Points
Cafe shut for the winter but it is opening in the spring and going to be bigger and better.

Great fun

Great fun that includes different levels of riders. Lots to try and also good to develop skills on as well. New bike shop and farm shop are really nice with helpful staff too. Will be back for more riding throughout 2017 for sure!

Good Points
Very natural feeling trails, despite being a "trail centre".
You can link the trails to make a decent length ride.
Very cool bike shop.
Eco-attitude is evident.
Skills loop is great for wee ones (and not so wee ones).
Bad Points
Wish it was bigger.
Would be nice to have the cafe open all year round.

Superb trails.

Very compact trail network with lots of opportunities to mix and match red/blue/black and secret old stuff!
Top red route is my favourite - sometimes go up there and do 3 or 4 laps. Blue is a blast with just about anybody and is great for kids. The top blue is very blue going on red. Some of the red is red going on black but as long as you know that it is fine. Some of the old trails from the original Hairy Coo route are also excellent.
Then there are the trails heading out for some 'old school' riding in all directions.
Cafe is now open much more often and the bike shop is excellent in that they actually fix stuff!
