Turn left, when you reach the traffic lights, take the left hand fork along Woodhall Road to the third turning on the left, (Bonaly Road). Drive up Bonaly Road, over the bypass bridge and straight on. The car park is at the very end of this narrow road.
For Downhill: Park in the car park after the scout center. Go through the wooden gate and take a left, you'll see the bottom of the trails coming out the woods.

Bonaly Downhill and Mountain Bike Trails are in the Pentland Hills on the South West outskirts of Edinburgh.

The area has Downhill runs on the side of White Hill and good natural non waymarked cross country across the Pentland Hills region.

  • The Downhill is currently shut whilst an approved line is being built with jumps. Please do not ride nor do any illegal building. To get involved check out the Bonaly Facebook Page who manage all building work first through consultation with the local ranger.

Cross Country

  • The cross country is single-track epic riding and a good starting point is from Bonaly Country Park car Park. From there you can head off to explore the Pentland Hills.
  • MTB Trails has a good area description and a 33 km XC route that runs through the Pentland hills.

  • If you have ridden the trails in Bonaly then please share your experiences and post your pictures, videos, reviews and routes to the trail listing.

I know I have learned a lot from riding these trails and built up my confidence immensely. Its easy to spend an afternoon here. and its great for being so close to the city - if you are from Edinburgh you probably already have ridden here but if you haven't its worth a visit. Although its not worth a journey to visit.

A lot of fun can be had sessioning the good features
Bad Points
Not well maintained because in part due to some conflict with rangers as regards to what can be built
