Carron Valley Mountain Bike Trails are in Stirling, Scotland and have a red and an orange free ride section.

The Red Trail

  • This is about 10.5 km. It starts at a section called the Pipe Dream which gets you warmed up gently for what is to follow. This trail has steep climbs, rock descents, stone slab drops and a final Runway (orange graded) section that is made for flow and pump and jumps (all rollable). It's famed for the Black Waterfall (known as Eas Dubh) and Kelpie staircase (rock steps).
  • Having been laid down in 2006 the trail has grown a strong reputation. Each section is well waymarked making it easy to session your favourite bits and doing it twice is worth it.

History

  • Originally the trails were set up to be a much bigger venture to emulate what had been created in the 7 Stanes but to do that within a closer radius to the metropolitan centres of Glasgow and Edinburgh. It didn't quite get that far in development but what has been built in Carron Valley for mountain bikers is well worth the visit and of course you never know where the future will lie.
