Bigmick:
Hiraethog mountain bike base
Another hidden gem within the welsh hills.
I've done several of the routes listed on the'Ride North Wales' website around this area and one thing that can be relied upon is big climbs and awesome scenery.
As with most of the riding in this area be prepared as conditions can be changeable and you can be a long way from help if things go a bit pear shaped.
Most of the trails are on forest roads linked up with a few sections of single track which will probably not appeal to all but there is some great XC riding to be had in this area.
If you start from one of the lakeside visitor centers you have a good base with all the facilities you could wish for.
