Bucknell Downhill track is near Hopton in Shropshire. It is actually just a 5 minutes drive (20-30 min cycle) down the road from Hopton Woods XC and the Downhill MTB trails there.  It's common to ride them both in the same trip.

Pearce cycles organise uplift days and events at the course.

Bucknell DH Track

  • The Bucknell Downhill track is fast, flowing, short, can be quite technical and is steep in places. It starts with a fast rooty section with a few doubles, a step down, a big tabletop and a huge berm before you get to even more technical rooty track riding including a big gap jump with a short run-out, before a flowy end.

Closest Bike Shop

  • Pearce Cycles - also very involved in running races, events and trail development in the local area.

Races and Events

  • Bucknell Downhill is open to the public but it also holds the final round of the Pearce Cycles downhill series as well as regular uplift days organised by Pearce Cycles.

Other Stuff

  • The trail was made possible with the Forestry Commission working with the local community.

Another Shropshire downhill track, this one is just around the corner from Hopton. The downhill track is fun in the dry but can be a bit tricky in places in the wet. There's also a blue xc trail (part of the Hopton network) in the wood that links through the the Hopton red xc trail.

The village of Bucknell has a shop and bike friendly accommodation if you need it.

User Review

Good Points
Good quality downhill track with a variety of terrain and obstacles (jumps, drops, roots etc) that's a regular feature on the Pearce Downhill Series.
Bad Points
Not a bad point but there's no facilities there so just plan ahead.
