Good Trail for those starting out

Overall excellent xc trail, superbly maintained by FC and volunteers, well sign posted trail that's a real mix of climbing and descent, only really suitable for the most confident and fittest of children under 10(Lanhydrock much more suitable for younger riders)

Good points:

Good trail for those wanting to get into mountain biking as blue trail can be ridden by anyone with reasonable level of fitness and a bit of nerve, lots of areas where can improve riding skills and some really enjoyable sections( the whip and the end section are pretty good for any level and Dailed in Dave down to bridge is just a flat out blast) small red section for more confident riders, not too difficult if you can handle steep and rocky switchbacks(and the climb!!) good parking, toilets, cafe etc... can be combined with Lanhydrock trails to make a total of 14ish miles of trail and about 4 miles of tarmac for a fair day of riding with some great scenery too if you take your eyes off the trail for a couple of seconds

Bad points:

Very busy at weekends, needs longer downhill and more red trail areas, really only one trail so gets repetitive, would be nice to have second blue loop running around outside of first

Impressed

Highly recommended, will be coming back

Good points:

1st time where really impressed, well signposted, great facilities, would definitely come back, and only fell off once ?? reasonably priced car parking, cafe etc.

Bad points:

None really, some of the route was closed for maintenance but well signposted, and these things have to be maintained so no problem.

Awesome fun for beginners and experienced riders

I love Cardinham, it is the first trail that I rode and ride it as often as I can as it is great for a good workout. The cafe is great (If not a little pricey, but aren't they always). There are changing facilities but no shower which would be a welcome addition after a muddy ride.

Good points:

The blue trails are well maintained easy to follow with with fun fast downhill sections and tough but realistic uphill climbs. The two red trails are easy to ride: Dialed in Dave offers a bit of technical, drop off, rocky riding, nice sweeping curves offer good technical cornering on mixed ground. Hell's Teeth has a hell of climb to get too, I have not managed to ride up to it but once you get to the top there is a worthwhile fun ride through the woods before you get to the steep downhill with nice tight turns, roots and depending on the time of year really mixed ground. Dialed in Dave is fine for riders of all abilities whilst the downhill section of Hell's teeth really needs experience with tight steep turns. The blue and Dialed in Dave trails are great for all skill levels as your speed will dictate the difficulty level. There are changing facilities but no shower. There is good parking (I would recommend getting a Forestry commission pass as it will save money if you are a regular user). There are family friendly walks if your family is not up for the main ride routes.

Bad points:

The down side to Cardinham is the lack of trickier trails, once you have learned the course you will can only work on your speed. The red trails are tame compared to most so anyone looking for a real challenge will leave disappointed No real Jumps or really technical areas. No Skills areas or pump track. No Bike cleaning area.
