The Queen Elizabeth Country Park (QECP) Mountain Bike Centre is just straight off the A3 in Hampshire, England and has two bike trails (a red and a blue) which are clearly waymarked.
There is also tonnes of natural terrain trail riding around here. In addition, there is a number of non-waymarked but hand carved enduro/downhill style descents normally used for events but available to ride all year round.
It's also within a short 30 min drive to its sister Downhill track at Stoughton DH which is well worth checking out also if Downhill and Freeride are your things.
The Red
- This mountain bike trail is graded red (for clarity) and is 7.5 (4.6 miles) long. This is mostly single-track, a lot of which is off-camber, rooty and with some decent climbing and steep gradients. It has just has added an extension on the which is pretty neat and added a nice windy section traversing the hill with a few kickers and jumps thrown in.
The Blue
- The blue is 6km (3.7 miles) long. After the successful extension and upgrade to the Red track in 2013 /14 the QECP Collective trail building team have been working on the Blue trail. It has been upgraded to an all-weather trail with 65% single-track with fun berms and rollers as well as blue and red drop options. Some of the new singletrack sections are called deerstalker, swoopy and lumberjack. The new blue final section was completed with the flowing final descent in May 2016.
Natural Trails
- There is a lot of natural trail riding here. The park is situated on the south downs way which runs through the middle of the forest. It offers great access to the rest of the south downs. Two specific non-waymarked trails start in the park and lead out into the surrounding countryside. These use the rights of way network and some public roads. Queen Elizabeth 16 km (10 miles), Meon Valley 16km (10 miles). For more information on these routes and others in Hampshire, a pack of 'Off Road Cycle Trails' is available from the Visitor Centre.
Enduro
- There are a good number of downhill style non-waymarked descents in the park also. They are normally used for events but available to ride all year round. Best hook up with a local.
